Luxury Spa Hotel JW Marriott Hotel Frankfurt

Choosing the right lighting combination for your guest room home office can be a bit of a challenge. Make sure the space is well-lit for your needs but also not too bright and overwhelming. A good rule of thumb is to choose a combination of task lighting, such as desk lamps, and accent lighting, such as floor lamps or table lamps. In addition, install a dimmer switch to broaden the possibilities and help create the perfect ambiance for your guests. No one wants their guest bedroom to feel like a corporate office.

Find your favorite home office inspiration and build a guest room around it, or vice versa. One cohesive design is best to ensure the room looks well put together. You’ll want to find the best way to comfortably accommodate both a bed and a desk. Once you know how much space you’re working with you can then select the proper size of furniture to fill the space. The side table is kept simple with two plants in blue pots to mirror the blue from the ceiling.

Creative Meetings in Frankfurt

When it comes to home offices that do double and triple duty, the focus is obviously on utilization of space and multitasking. But let this not become the sole consideration and plan for the room just like you would in the case of the bedroom or the living space. Add a TV and an entertainment console to give it a pleasant, more casual vibe. This might even allow you to turn the home office-guestroom into a family room as well! Lighting is another key aspect, and you will need an intelligent blend of ambient and focused lighting so that your home office does not feel dark and moody.

Making the most of your available space is all about getting creative with storage while ensuring the room serves all its purposes. For example, this spare room features under-the-bed baskets, plus a desk with drawers and a decorative ladder that doubles as a spot to hang hats, scarves or extra blankets. These small guest bedroom/office combo ideas create a cozy, fun room that makes your guests feel free and easy during their stay. This is a room tour of my guest bedroom and home office combination. I share ideas on how to design a multipurpose spare room, especially if it is small!

Keep the Design Light & Minimal

We also can place towels on the chair and a basket of waters on the table to lean the room into more of a guest room direction. Because I wanted this to be kind of a dual-purpose piece, I decided a console table would work for us. When we need to use this room as a home office, we can pull the chair up, snuggle under a cozy woven throw blanket, and work away.

Move the inner cube (that's against the wall) to the other outer edge for better access to supplies. Decoist is a web magazine that brings you the daily bits of architecture, furniture and interior design. Once the paint was dry, we moved the queen bed into two new positions and finally left it to where we were left with the most usable space. Another thing we did that made a big difference was removing my beloved metal headboard. We had removed the foot board four years ago when we first moved in to save some space. But the headboard was still taking up about a foot of space between the wall and the bed.

Add a Secretary Desk

If you're determined to have a full bed in your guest room but have to compromise on your desk, a small round table might be perfect. This gives you a workspace as well as a place for your guests to sit for morning coffee or evening tea. A small round table with a chair or two can replace your desk, so you have plenty of room for a cozy guest bed.

Your solution is a soft and comfortable couch that doubles as office seating and a resting area for guests. A small coffee table or end table nearby gives you tabletop space for all of your office necessities. If you find you need a desk seating option that moves easily or can simply be rolled out of the space, try a backless desk stool.

A small white table in the corner was the perfect spot to place a gold and white lamp, plus some greenery to add a naturally calming feel. I added in a few other pieces of greenery around the room, pulling inspiration from Island Time . To create the illusion of a larger space, I hung a low-profile mirror above the sleeper sofa. The gold trim was also a perfect match for my other gold accents! Over the sideboard, I opted to create a collage of frames and other decor that would both be interesting to our guests and inspiring to me as I work.

This guest room office from Jessica Lagrange Interiors has a spacious bedside table desk and tufted ottoman that offers guests a place to rest their bones that isn't the bed. The room can serve as a quiet spot for Zoom calls or short work sessions when guests aren't in town. Or if working from home becomes a more frequent proposition, you can tuck the ottoman under the desk and bring in an office chair without changing the layout. While an ergonomic desk chair is the best option for long hours of stationary work, using more comfortable upholstered chairs will create a cozy spot to do punctual work from home. Adding bold color is an easy way to personalize your home workspace and remind you of the benefits of designing your own office. When figuring out where to put everything in your extra bedroom/home office, you might have to play around with the furniture layout a bit.

This also allows the guest portion of the room to take center stage visually. You need a place for files, and your guests need a place for belongings. Creative gathering place, co-working space + meeting point. Have a cup of delicious illy coffee, grab a book and take a time out. Simply savor the moment, or use the space to meet at the co-working table, gather and connect with your team and colleagues. Always surrounded by the light activity of our hotel lobby, Le Méridien Hub is the perfect place for focus and distraction.

The desk area is concentrated in an alcove so that guests won't feel like they're sleeping in your office when they stay the night. On the hunt for guest bedroom/office ideas that can make a space look more cohesive? A neutral rug will provide a grounding effect while adding subtle texture, warmth and softness underfoot.

If you have an extra set of towels and sheets under the bed, you can quickly get the room ready for guests without having to hurry and do a whole load of laundry. Too many storage containers on your shelves can make your guest room feel more like a storage room. Stick to visually-pleasing containers, and leave some open space on your shelves. Because the bed will take up most of the space in this room, it’s best if you can tuck the bed away somewhere when you need to get work done. The video above from Prefab & Small Homes provides a nice demonstration of how much room a Murphy bed can save you when you’re short on floorspace. Sleeper

But before that let me show you a before so you got a good idea of what we have done to the space. Small decor elements take every room to the next level, and it's a great way to add visual interest and function without blowing the budget.
